Byron Douglas “Doug” England of Bedford, son of Marjorie Hovious England and the late Ira England, Jr., was born March 22, 1956 in LaSalle County, Illinois. He died at 10:50 P.M., Monday, July 31, 2017 in Louisville. Age: 61 He professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. Doug retired from the United States Navy where he served his country honorable for over twenty years as a Missile System Technician and an instructor. During his career he was awarded numerous ribbons, medals and commendations including: three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, five Good Conduct Awards, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, two Navy Achievement Medals, three Navy “E” Ribbons, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal, Pistol Shot Medal, National Defense Service Medal, US Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon, two Meritorious Unit Commendations and the NATO Medal. He was a long time Boy Scout Leader and was very devoted to his sons. Doug is survived by two sons: Robbie England and Roger England of Greenville, South Carolina; his mother, Marjorie England; one brother, Gary England and wife, Diane and one sister-in-law, Sandy England of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
