Obituary for Donald Watson Dabney

Donald Watson Dabney of Campbellsville, son of the late Hershel Dabney and Christine Watson Dabney, was born February 12, 1939, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He passed away at 3:05 A.M., Friday, December 12, 2025, in Campbellsville, at the age of 86.

Mr. Dabney was a faithful Christian whose life was a reflection of his strong beliefs and devotion. He was a member and deacon of Campbellsville Baptist Church. He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army Reserves and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Donald was a proud alumnus of Campbellsville High School and the University of Kentucky, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

On February 10, 1962, he united in marriage with Barbara Dean Dabney, who preceded him in death on June 9, 2014. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kristi Dabney Peterson, on March 8, 2019.

He is survived by one son, Donald Dabney Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Campbellsville; five grandchildren: Paige Dabney-Hunt and her husband, Andy; Don M. Dabney and his wife, Reagan; Peyton Dabney; Trey Peterson and his partner, Dana; and Kendall Peterson. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Augustus Hunt, Charlotte Dabney, and Lilith Peterson, along with many other relatives and friends.

Visitation: 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Monday, December 15, 2025, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, officiated by Dr. Dwayne Norman and Pastor Nathan Johnson 

Burial: Brookside Cemetery
