Elwood Squires of Campbellsville, son of the late Jim Lewis Squires and Tamar Murrell Finn Squires, was born November 26, 1930 in Green County, Kentucky. He died at 6:54 A.M., Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Campbellsville. Age: 95
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Mark Methodist Church.
Elwood was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force as a crew chief on the flight line.
He was a retired masonry contractor, but was also a car wash operator. Elwood did carpentry work, was a welder and crane operator.
He united in marriage to Jewell Thompson February 27, 1951 and she preceded him in death October 23, 2019.
Elwood is survived by two sons and one daughter: DeWayne Squires and wife, Denise of Louisville, Darryl Squires and wife, Lisa and DeLisa Knopp and husband, Sam of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren: Starre Jiniya and husband, Daymond, Steven Squires and wife, Tricia and Savannah Lewis and husband, Zach of Campbellsville, Storme Rattliff and husband, J.C. of Knoxville, Skye Lorenzen and husband, Zach and Miranda Parsons and husband, David Brandon of Louisville, Misty Thompson of Lexington and Megan Thompson of Black Mountain, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren: Laryn Rueda and husband, Clark, Ashwyn Travelstead, Campbell Parsons and Tyler Squires; two great-great-grandchildren: Damon Rueda and Evren Rueda; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters: Marie Squires, Nelson Squires, Beatrice Landis, Floyd Squires, Lucille Bagby, Russell Squires, Elois Gumm and Raymond Squires.
