Jasper “Jack” Hamlin, a resident of Campbellsville, KY, was born April 19, 1934 in Martin’s Fork (Smith) Harlan County, KY to James Floyd Hamlin and Jennie (Hensley) Hamlin. He passed away into Jesus’ arms and his eternal heavenly home lovingly surrounded by his family on March 23, 2026 at age 91.
Jack was a true Believer in Jesus and faithfully served Jesus’ church for over 65 plus years. He dearly loved his family and loved his country, having honorably served four years active duty in the U. S. Air Force. Jack retired from Ford Motor Co. with 30 years of service.
He was affectionately known as Grandpa, Pap-paw, or Mountain Man to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Mountain Man moniker came from his love for the outdoors (most fall days he was on the side of a hill digging ginseng) and the simpler things in life. Jack loved to garden and grow flowers of which many local doctors’ offices were graced in the summer because of his green thumb.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Patsy (Owens) Hamlin. Children: Don (Jody) Hamlin, Campbellsville, KY; Donna (Bill) Hayes, Cecilia, KY; Ed (Pam) Hamlin, Lawrenceburg, KY. Grandchildren: Emily (Dusty) Snyder; Kyle (Tess) Hamlin; Danielle (Brandon) Willcut; Hannah (Matt) West; Matthew (Cari) Hamlin; Luke (Jackie) Hamlin; 14 great grandchildren; and preceded by one granddaughter, Erin, who he is now re-united with in heaven. Also surviving are sisters: Dora (Randy) Fee, Rose Hill, VA; Karma Thomas, Ewing, VA; and brother, JR (Virginia) Long, Ewing, VA; many nieces, nephews, and his loving church family, Raikes Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded by his parents; sisters: Edith, Frances, Ethel, Stella, Oma and Macie; and brothers: Arnold, Jesse, Howard and twin brother, Brady, (Jack, along with Brady, were known among the family as the “gold dust twins” for their love of metal detecting).
The family would like to thank Hosparus Health Green River for their care during Jack’s recent declining health.
Visitation is from 10:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M., Thursday, April 2, 2026 with the funeral at 12:30 P.M., Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, Campbellsville, KY. Jack’s wishes were for his grandsons: Chaplain (CPT) Kyle Hamlin, United States Army and Chaplain (CPT) Luke Hamlin, United States Army (Reserve) to conduct his funeral. Kyle and Luke will be assisted by Jack’s dear friend and fellow church member, Jim Cheatham.
Interment will be at Lebanon National Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Galilean Children’s Home, Liberty, KY, or the International Mission Board (SBC), Richmond, VA.
